Sewing For A Smile
Why I am stepping back to the sewing machine in this season
For the past several months I have been developing a series called Redeeming Design. If you have been on this journey with me for a while, you know that the series was born after I began to notice some clear themes in my writing over the past couple of years. It is my attempt to explore how God restores identity and helps us understand the way He intentionally and masterfully designed us.
I will continue to build out Redeeming Design within my paid community as we move into the next letter in D.E.S.I.G.N. At the same time, I will be stepping into a very practical project that I will share about here. This project will allow our family to address a current health issue.
For as long as I can remember I have struggled with dental issues connected to a genetic gum disease. Over the years I have lived with shifting teeth, losing teeth, sensitive gums, and other challenges. I had a consultation not too long ago where I learned that a long term solution I am a candidate for is a full mouth restoration with dental implants.
This kind of work is pretty costly, and I would prefer not to borrow in order to solve this problem. After talking with my husband and our children, we decided to approach this challenge as a family project.
We are calling it Sewing for a Smile. In one sense, I am literally sewing to help restore my smile. In another, I hope the things we create will bring a smile to the people who receive them.
My children will be learning alongside me as they help with things like cutting fabric, pressing seams, packaging items, photography, and basic business tasks. In several ways it will become part of their education as they see how work, creativity, and stewardship can come together to solve a real problem.
Many of the items in our collection will be one of a kind as we design and create pieces inspired by materials we already have on hand. As the work develops, we will release small collections and make those items available for purchase.
The goal is simple. My family wants to help me earn the money needed to pay for this dental work while we learn together to trust God as He directs our steps.
I pray that through this project we will see that families can work together to solve real problems, that good work has value, that God often uses what is already in our hands, and that trusting Him looks like prayer, obedience, creativity, and steady effort over time.
Thank you for being here and for walking with me through the many seasons that shape this space. After all, I am a Kingdom mom, and this is my diary.
God bless you and I’ll see you next time if it be the Lord’s will.
P.S. Here is a sneak peek of me pressing the seams on a denim quilt I’m piecing together. Don’t mind the voices in the background. The little one was playing a card game with his grandmother and winning, so she decided it was nap time. 😆

Praying God's blessing on all of the work of all of your hands, multiplying your efforts and dollars! What an inspiration you and your family are to the Kingdom. You are a rare jewel!
Amazing concept and fundamentals! I will support anything you touch because you are authentic and a pure heart! I will ESPECIALLY support one of those charcuterie boards you made a few weeks back! Love and blessings to you and yours!
